Rodrigo Troitiño

— Troito

Brazilian-born Photographer, Visual Artist and Art Director/Designer based in Amsterdam. Troito also lived in London, Barcelona, Denver CO - US, Brazil.

After 8 years experimenting photography through Instagram Rodrigo acquired at the end of 2017 a DSLR camera and few lenses. The photograph you see in this website is a small selection of the results the artist have been capturing on his adventurous shooting time. Often exploring the countryside and landscape but also street photography and portraying friends he made during his photo hunting time.

“As Visual Artist my artwork should be seen as ‘fountains of good energy’ where people can have much of positive energy as they feel like. To reach this goal I tease the audience’s mood with peculiar scenes, often exploring movement, expression and light. You will often see characters jumping, or dancing, or simply floating - moments of pure joy.”

Troito's most relevant art project, The Unknowns' Good Feelings, had editions in Barcelona, Brazil, Moscow, Finland, London and Spain through the Way of Saint James (Camino de Santiago). In this project Troitiño used to talk with unknown people during 20 minutes each, meanwhile he draws inspired by the conversation related to happiness.

As technique I often use ink over paper for drawings with a personal hatching style, for paintings I use a technique that I created myself when I was crafting my first exhibition back in 2006, it uses acrylics, stencils and paint rollers over canvas or recycling wood. - Lately I’m also exploring sculpture-molding on play-doh, photography and brushes.

As result we see artworks influenced by the surrealism. expressionism, impressionism and and also pop-art’s comics lines.

Netherlands — After years exercising photography 2018 was the year when Troito decided to step in this field in a professional and artistic way. He produced and launched Troi.to - issue 0001, a booklet of prints in the format of a black and white magazine with 300 units printed and numbered, measuring 13,8x19,2cm. This first edition features through 12 pages some of Troito’s street photography around the Netherlands during 2018. Some of the pictures are followed by poems. The writers Ben Blench, Raphael Gancz and Vanessa Inggs. collaborated on this first issue. This non-profitable initiative was distributed to friends and people Rodrigo met around Amsterdam. He also left samples in cafés and on magazine shops displays.

Back to brushes — Looking for a more spontaneous way of making art, Troitiño have been using brushes to create acrylics over paper pieces with a intense and visceral style — clearly influenced by the BW photography. — Some samples from 2018 bellow.

Troito is open for collaborations, commissions and also freelance roles. Please get in touch. — troitino@gmail.com
